The end of the year is a popular time to look back and learn for the future. That’s why we’re taking time to share ideas for specific actions you can take now to:
- Make next year even better
- Improve your business stability
- Keep one eye on the big picture at all times, especially now when you might need to be in the weeds more than usual.
Nurture a growth mindset
People who have a growth mindset tend to be more resilient, more motivated, and less stressed. They are open to learning whenever they can and see everything from a perspective of how it can help them grow. Start by reflecting on your current mindset and how it helps or doesn’t help you, embracing your human failures and not beating yourself up, and getting feedback about your work and work style. Through it all, be kind to yourself.
Track your KPIs
Key Performance Indicators are metrics tied to strategic business goals. You may track other metrics too, but KPIs are the most impactful ones. To get the most value, track them somewhere you’ll be able to reference late; for example, monthly in a spreadsheet. This will allow you to compare individual month’s to each other and set you up to compare next March to this March and to spot trends or patterns.
Quarterly business reviews
Each quarter, review your KPIs, talk with your team about how things are going, and gather strategic customer feedback. Then compile it all into a descriptive business summary you can review now and look back at later. Use these reviews to ensure that you’re seeing the big picture regularly and making the necessary progress toward your business goals. MAke this easier by developing a simple template so the process of creating the summary doesn’t take longer than reviewing it.
Document key activities
Did you implement a new CRM? Try a new customer onboarding process? Document the who, what, where, when, why, and how of key actions. The idea behind this is to look back later and understand what worked, what didn’t, and why in order to improve. At the very least, it’ll keep you from having to rely on your memory for every detail or sort through multiple recollections of what happened.
Keep up with robust and beneficial technology solutions
Tech solutions come and go, so it’s important to have a way to learn about and evaluate them. Remember to always tie them to your actual business needs. Any solution is only valuable if it solves something real. For example, if you’re looking for a new retargeting tool, check out the elteve platform.
